About Lia
I started out coaching kids through sport in Hartford. Then I spent three years at a sport-based youth nonprofit in Boston, most of it raising money and writing grants, and four years at a media company, the last three in HR, finishing as Director of Employee Experience. Lia Tria LLC puts that work under one name.
How the practices connect
The HR work comes from running onboarding, training, recruiting and employee relations at What If Media Group, much of it remotely. The grant writing comes from writing and managing grant applications and reports for a sport-based youth nonprofit. The events come from both: monthly engagement events, all-hands meetings and an annual retreat on the company side, and fundraising events and campaigns on the nonprofit side.
The Aspen house is the newest. It's the same job of keeping several people informed and agreed, applied to a home.

2021 to 2025
What If Media Group
Joined in research and operations, then moved into HR: HR Manager, Employee Experience Manager, and Director of Employee Experience. Ran onboarding, learning and development, recruiting and succession planning, and the company's culture programming, from monthly events to the annual retreat. Worked with the SVP of HR on employee relations, including disciplinary actions and investigations.

Communications consultant, supporting marketing and social media for Husky Sport and Nutrition.

Parents for Peace
Development consultant. Built a foundation strategy with the executive director, wrote fundraising materials, and managed donor communications and stewardship.

Doc Wayne Youth Services, Boston
A nonprofit providing sport-based group therapy for at-risk youth. Started as an intern co-facilitating group sessions, then became Development and Special Projects Coordinator, Development Manager, and Development and Communications Manager. Wrote and managed grant applications and reports, ran individual giving and donor stewardship, and managed the agency's social media, marketing and website.

Coaching and youth programs in Connecticut
Husky Sport, a sport-based youth development program in Hartford's North End. A year with AmeriCorps Coach Across America. Special Olympics coaching and after-school recreation for children with disabilities in Wethersfield. Refereeing and managing referees for UConn Recreation.
